life happenings

Well last week was just a whirlwind of busy.  We had cheer camp for school and the girls did so good. We also had other cheer practice along with our Girl Scout end of the year party and car wash fundraiser for All-Star. This week thankfully is a little less busy, so I'm hoping to get some things done around the house and get back on track with my First 5 and reading my bible.  Next week starts VBS for the local church. Also how is Bre turning 6 on Thursday? I dont believe it and still am in denial!!!

So cheer camp started on Monday last week and was for 3 hours all week, then Friday, they put on a performance for what they learned during the week. It was a long day for the girls but I think all in they had a great time. They got to meet their coaches for the football season, learn their half-time dance and a cheer and sideline. We have 9 girls on our squad and they're all so excited for the season to start.

Our end of the year girl scout party was Wednesday & it was a lot of fun. We went to a local indoor pool and the girls did not want to get out. We had a little mishap with the pizza delivery but we gave the girls cupcakes and they were happy. Despite being up super late and swimming for over an hour, they did so awesome at practice the next day!

Saturday we did a car wash with our All-Star team and it was such a beautiful day and they did really good for not too much traffic. I had to teach Saturday evening at church, I was beat from being out in the sun all day, I only had 3 kids so it was super easy. Sunday I went to early service and had class.

This week, Bre has her yearly check-up (which already resulted in tears thinking she has to get shots even though she doesn't). She also decided she doesn't want to do American Girl store and she wants to have a party, so we will also be doing that this month! I can't believe it's almost July so you know what that means? NKOTB concert!!!! I am so excited, but I am sure if you know me all too well, you already knew that.

I haven't been keeping up too much with my 100 Days of pressing pause either and I really need to get back into that!!! I know busyness shouldn't be an excuse, but I haven't been getting up early like I used to during school. So that is a goal that I need to work on again!!  Ok, I have rambled enough I will update when I get a chance again.

community projects

Once a year our church does a community project called Focus. Well actually it's multiple projects throughout the community. We had it this past weekend and this year we had 40 projects and I got asked to be a leader of the one project. At first I was kind of skeptical because if I am going to be honest, I have never participated in Focus with the church let alone taken up such a big responsibility. But, I am trying to step out of my comfort zone more so I said yes. (Plus, I can never seem to tell the Children's Ministry Director no lol totally kidding I love that she trusts me to head up things like this!)

The project we were on was at an assisted living home. While I felt things were kind of disorganized (they basically said whatever we want to do is fine). I am really hoping that just having us there with the kids visiting with the residents brightened their days. We ended up just playing bingo with the residents and after lunch some broke off and went to visit some of the residents and some played bingo again with them.

I am glad I was able to bring Breanna with me and I am really looking forward to doing this every year with the church. I am trying to start these kinds of things with her now and teach her how to give back and it's a good thing to give back and not always get get get.

stepping out...

*source

If you know me well enough, then you know that I normally am not one to step out of my comfort zone and do things that I am not familiar with especially when it comes to going into a place where people already have friendships established.

I mentioned the other day briefly about joining a small group through my church. Well yesterday was my first group and I have to admit, I was nervous and very hesitant because all these ladies know each other and have been to a few groups together before.

BUT....the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and like I have been there for awhile. It was so nice to connect with some other ladies from my church, as well as some not from church, some other ladies that follow Christ and that I can connect with my through faith. I dearly love my friends but sometimes it's nice to just have others to share your faith with that will know where you are coming from.

I actually surprised myself by being more involved than I expected. I shared more than I expected I would too. Things that I normally dont share with people I JUST have met and only my close friends know about. I am really excited to continue connecting and growing in my faith with these ladies

new opportunity

I have mentioned numerous times how amazing our church is and I am wanting to get more involved. Well, I took a step of faith and last month, I contacted our Children's Ministry Leader about volunteering opportunity in the Kidzone of our church.

Our Kidzone, is such an amazing place for kids to learn all about God and faith at an age appropriate level. Breanna loves going and I am so excited for this. I helped out twice last month. This week, I had an official meeting and I am officially on the schedule to volunteer every other Saturday in the pre-school room.  I think Bre is just as excited as I am because she can go with me and stay and help me in the preschool room or she can go into the K-5 room. It's nice because Saturday's aren't as busy as Sunday's so I wont feel as overwhelmed with a lot of kids.

I am  so excited to get more involved in the church and teach these little ones. One thing I love about it is, they have everything outlined for you and exactly what to teach them (even say!) so I dont feel as overwhelmed because if I am going to be honest, I am still learning myself.

They have such a great team and I just adore the 2 directors of the program. My next step is taking Following Jesus classes and becoming a member of the church. (I plan to do this by end of this year), So wish me luck in my newest adventure

ch. ch. ch. changes

I feel like I say this with every post I do but its true, I dont know if anyone even reads this anymore, but I just felt the urge to write today. With the new year approaching, I am making a lot of changes in my life, I personally dont do resolutions because I usually break them but I have already started changes.

First, there is a small change up at the top up there, I really wanted to change the name of my blog, because I'm thinking of going a different route with it now that Breanna is getting older, (I dont want to always be posting about her let her have her privacy.) While I will still have Adventures of the Roberts link, I am starting slowly changing things around

Another big change for me, is being more into my faith! I received the most beautiful bible for Christmas and to say I am obsessed with it would be an understatement.

I've previously mentioned I wanted to get involved more with our church, I talked with the Children Ministry leader and asked if they needed any help and I am officially volunteering/serving in the kidzone and it's so much fun, I am working with pre-schoolers and they are just the cutest. If I am going to be honest, I never thought I would be so much into a church as I am ours. I grew up Catholic, (and I have nothing against those that are catholic) but it's just not for me and our new church is just amazing! I love everything about it!! They do so much fun stuff and I am so excited to continue volunteering and getting to know more people.

We had a few different services for Christmas Eve and they had the kids singing at them so Breanna wanted to do it so I signed her up for 2 on the Friday services. So since she was doing that I volunteered to work the 2nd service. While I was looking forward to the big grand Christmas service they did a nice acoustic this year. And it was absolutely beautiful

My next step will be taking classes and becoming a member of the church. I am hoping by end of next year I will accomplish that. But just taking it one step at a time for now

weekend things.....

Can I have another weekend from my weekend to recover? Oh my, this weekend was one of the busiest we have had in quite a while! Next weekend may actually be even busier now that I am thinking about it...

Saturday my friend's daughter had her birthday party and then we had church. We are starting a new series and I am so excited for the next 5 weeks to get into it. I am trying to get more involved in the church and join a small group, I have a few that I emailed about and I am hoping to hear back soon. I also am hoping to serve with the church too whether it be a greeter an usher or something like that. Bre is loving it every week more and more now that she is actually in a "class" setting rather than the nursery! This week  National Aviary brought in some birds. They had a scarlet macaw, a penguin and some other bird she couldn't remember. She talks about it the whole ride home

School friends birthday parties have officially started. I knew this would happen soon enough but I didn't expect it to be so soon. I won't lie, I wasn't really looking forward to going because if I am going to be honest, I am uncomfortable going places where I dont know anyone and I just feel.........awkward. (Our town is so small that everyone pretty much know everyone and I feel like I know no-one). I do know a few moms from school but I had no idea who was or wasn't invited so I was going in totally blind. I have been trying to just not be so awkward about going places alone where I dont know anyone and step out of my comfort zone because if we are going to be honest here, I am sure I am going to be meeting these parents sooner or later anyways! It turned out to be a good time and I ended up seeing a few of the moms I know.

They had the party at a local pumpkin patch and there was so much to do for the kids. Bre and her one classmate ran around the playground for almost the entire time, they have some little bikes they can ride, a corn maze, small "haunted house", and lots of other fun things.

This week, I have to pull the final things together for the class Halloween party and a few other little things.....next weekend we have yet another busy weekend (2 trick or treatings, cheer private, church and cheer/tumbling) it makes me so tired just thinking about it, can I just take a nap now?

lately....

How is is already February?? Wasn't it JUST Christmas??? Anyways, I dont feel like I have done one of these posts in quite awhile although there is nothing spectacular happening right now but none the less...
*B has been working a LOT so we are adjusting to that. Last week, we went in to the gym to help sort out fundraiser hoagies and it was pre-team practice night and Breanna wanted to stay and watch well she ended up being able to work-out with them and she was beyond thrilled and the girls were so sweet to her giving her hi-5 every time she did something, she was so sad that we had to leave after an hour. The love this kid has for gymnastics is so intense!

*PuraVida Bracelets is having this AWESOME sale (that ends tonight)  33% off and you can also use my code CARIROBERTS20 for an extra 20% off (You can also use that code for EVERY purchase you make in the future) and also it's FREE Shipping in US!!!!!

I have a pretty nice collection going (to say I am obsessed may be an understatement). I love that they are waterproof so you never have to take them off. They also have a variety of ones that support charities, they have anklets, kids ones and just so many to choose from!!! Below are a few of my favorites...(you can follow my Instagram account and I try and post sales going on and new arrivals they have!!!)

*I am going to have a mommy brag moment here.....I bought some BOB Books for Bre for closer to when she starts K this fall (how is that possible? How is she already going to be in Kindergarten????) well she decided she wanted to start now. They are awesome way to get kids to start reading and we have gotten through 7 books already. (There are 18 books in the set) Though she tends to get upset/frustrated when she cant get it the first time around but she is one that wants to be perfect in all she does (she is the same with gymnastics & gets that from Daddy!) I am so proud of her and she loves reading them. We also made flashcards for words throughout the books so she hopefully wont get so frustrated if she keeps practicing

*I started an online bible study last week & while at times I still feel like it's overwhelming, I also am so excited to continue my journey. Its through Proverbs 31 Ministries and it's called Becoming More than a good Bible Study Girl. I feel so grateful to have found this website and community to help me keep on journey

*I have found some super cute clothing pieces...the boyfriend jeans from Old Navy are my obsession right now & totally obsessed with this shirt.... (I LOVE Gilmore girls so when I saw it I had to get it, I will probably end up with more. I am also pretty partial to the Take me to Stars Hollow one as well!!!) I love graphic tees and would much rather wear those than any other kind of shirt

*Baxter got his first professional bath and he looked so handsome, I just loved cuddling with him after he was so soft and smelled so good

well this turned out to be longer than expected so I will stop here.

Thankful

Another week just flying by in the blink of an eye, so some days we need to take a few moments to just stop and remember the little things to be happy/thankful for....

  • Awesome pre-school. Breanna absolutely loves it there and I am so glad we were able to get in
  • my health. I had a few friends that have lost people close to them lately and it just goes to show we aren't always guaranteed tomorrow. And it was sudden with no warning. They were both young in their mid 30's
  • family & friends. Though things may get tough at times, I wouldn't want to go through life with anyone else, and I know no matter what they always will make me smile and get me through.
  • Online services. With life being hectic, sometimes I cant make it to service on the weekends, I am so glad that I am able to catch it online. Whether it be live or on Monday, I love that I am still able to feel like I am involved!)

What are YOU thankful for?
